Goat Cheese Goodness
All About Cheese...
Today it’s all about The GOAT. No, I’m not talking about Tom Brady (sorry ladies), I am talking about Goat Cheese.
There are some polarized opinions regarding Goat Cheese, so I thought I would share all of the goodness Goat Cheese has to offer. In the end I hope the world will see the true beauty of this delightful and fresh variety.
Huge bonus!! The fat globules tend to be smaller than that of other milks, which makes Goat Cheese the lowest fat of all cheeses. Another interesting fact about Goat Cheese is the protein makeup is different from that of cow’s milk, which also makes it more digestible. Speaking of digestion, for those who are lactose intolerant (although it still contains sugar it contains quite a bit less), some might find Goat Cheese easier on their stomachs.
The flavor profile of Goat Cheese to some can resemble that of a barnyard, which is an actual description in the aroma profile of all cheeses. Funny that we still enjoy these cheeses with that in mind. I find many of these cheeses delicious. Well, actually I haven’t met a cheese I don’t like.
The exciting news about Goat Cheese is that with its mild flavor profile, it is so versatile to pair or blend with other flavors. Common pairings are blueberry, lemon, garlic herb, etc. However Goat Cheese also comes in some exotic and seasonal blends such as Jalapeño Honey and Pumpkin Spice.
Next time you grab a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or even your favorite beer (Goat Cheese pairs great with both), grab the Goat Cheese of your choice and enjoy knowing all of the goodness that your body is about to experience. Cheese Heaven!
Love,
Dawn, The Cheese Boss
